I am not a professional photographer. I do not even consider myself a good amateur photographer. I think I am fairly good at the creative side of photography. But technically, knowing how to use my camera on its various settings, I am but a beginner. But I do love photography and I do love featuring photos I have taken on my Active by Nature social media sites. Recently, one of my Facebook followers (thanks Carleen!) asked me if I would consider taking her on a photography walk to some of the locations I have featured on my page. What a fantastic idea! Why not I replied? The more I thought about it, the more excited I got about sharing some of my secret and not-so-secret-but-stunning photography spots here in Canmore.
I put together a half-day walking tour, complete with several photo stops for January 25, 2020. There was about 6 km of walking, and we drove to 3 different spots to make several photo stops. We had lovely warm temperatures, beautiful morning light on the mountains, sunbathing elk. We covered downtown, around town and a hike up to my favourite Canmore waterfall. This was my first photography walk. There will be more! To see more of my photos, please visit my Active by Nature Facebook page. Next up: Wildflower Walk this summer.
Here are a few examples of the stunning images captured by Carleen (Lightsmith Photography). To see more of her wonderful photos, please visit her Facebook page.
“Today I went on The Photography Walk that Mandy put together and it was AMAZING! Mandy is a fantastic guide/host who freely and willingly shares her favourite spots to get great shots and provides necessary equipment, poles etc to get through some of the rougher terrain. Don’t hesitate to book any of the hiking/walking tours she provides, you won’t be disappointed. I look forward to our next encounter and sharing some pics. Awesome Mandy, thank you so much!” – Carleen
