This is an out-and-back hike totalling 15 km with 470 metres of elevation gain. We will allow a full day to complete this iconic Rocky Mountain hike. It starts off on a logging road through forest, bypassing the Burstall Lakes. Next up is a marshy section of gravel flats, where we will switch out of hiking boots into water shoes or sandals to cross the many braided channels of water, surrounded by towering peaks. The trail steepens and becomes forested again. Soon the trail emerges into a stunning alpine meadow with an impressive wildflower collection at the right time of the year. In fall, the larches put on their display. Next, we negotiate the steepest section of trail as it ascends to the pass, from which the views of Banff National Park and off in the distance, Mt. Assinobine, will take your breath way! After spending some time at the pass to admire in the scenery, the return trip will begin. Poles are provided for the hike (sanitized before each use) or purchase your own poles with a 20% discount. For ages 12 & over.
Availability: Monday to Friday with start time between 8:30 am and 9:30 am to avoid busy times.
Cost per person: $119.99
Guests must provide their own transportation to the trailhead for these hikes.
