Mandy and her husband Colin love to travel. In 2018, encouraged by travel advisor Jenni Evans, Mandy & Colin combined this love for travel with their passion for poling to host a Nordic walking group that completed Exodus Travel’s Amalfi Coast trip. A detailed account of this fabulous adventure is below on this webpage.

Mandy and Colin hosted a group of 16 cyclists on an Exodus Travel bike tour of Vietnam from March 16 to March 29, 2023. This trip was an incredible success!  Details coming soon.

Nordic Walking the Amalfi Coast (Sept 29 - Oct 6, 2018)

From Sept 29 to Oct 6, my long held dream to take a group of people on a Nordic walking tour came to fruition in one of the world's most incredible settings: Italy's stunning Amalfi Coast.

Day One of our adventure saw us walking from the quaint village of Ravello, through the beautiful and storied Valle delle Ferriere with the remains of iron foundries from medieval times and paper factories dating back to the 12th century. We finally emerged from the alley into picture postcard perfect Amalfi, where a quick dip in the refreshing Mediterranean was a perfect way to end our walk.

Day Two saw us travelling by bus to the slopes of Mt Vesuvius where a volcanologist led us to the very summit and then down into the crater. There we put our faces up to the vents which were belching out heated air from the belly of this active beast. The wind and rain and thick mist only added to the atmosphere. In the afternoon it was on to Pompeii, with magnificent ruins of the city that was engulfed by the pyroclastic eruption of Vesuvius in 55 AD, to explore with the wonderful storytelling of our guides. We enjoyed a hotel pizza-making demonstration in the evening.

What to wear & bring (Spring, Summer, Fall):

  1. Wear comfy casual clothes.
  2. Bring a warm extra layer & rain jacket, just in case.
  3. Running shoes are fine while light trail or hiking shoes provide even more support and are ideal.
  4. Please no flip-flops or sandals.
  5. Leave purses at home. A small backpack is a great bring-along.
  6. Don't forget your water, sunscreen, sunglasses, a hat, insect repellent and your camera.

What to wear & bring (Winter):

  1. Wear a long sleeve t-shirt/thermal underwear top plus 1 or 2 layers (i.e.: light fleece top, heavier fleece top) & a wind/waterproof shell. Heavy winter parkas and snow pants are usually too warm.
  2. Wear winter boots or lined hiking boots. Icers, which go over your footwear to prevent slipping, are provided when necessary.
  3. Leave purses at home. A small backpack is a great bring-along.
  4. Bring water, gloves/mitts, a hat/headband, scarf/buff/neck warmer, tissues/handkerchief, sunglasses and don't forget your camera!

Cancellation Policy:

Full refunds are given if a cancellation is received 24 hours or more prior to the clinic or tour date. No refunds are given with less than 24 hours notice. Clinics/tours go rain or shine. If the weather is extreme, then it may be cancelled with a full refund given.
