Guided Hikes in Kananaskis Country

Kananaskis Country is 4,000 sq kilometres of sprawling wilderness bordering Banff National Park and Canmore.  This unspoiled, untamed landscape is equally as spectacular as neighbouring Banff, with a fraction of the visitors.  You could spend a lifetime exploring the magnificent hiking trails it encompasses!

The following scheduled tours are planned throughout the winter of 2019 - 2020.

GRASSI LAKES: Enjoy a lovely 2 hour, 4 km round-trip walk to the picturesque Grassi Lakes in Canmore while practising Nordic walking. Poles & ice cleats are provided. Easy terrain with a gradual climb of 125 metres. For ages 12 & over.

CHESTER LAKE: A guided snowshoe hike of 4-5 hours to a jewel of Kananaskis Country! Surrounded by towering peaks, the hike to Chester Lake is 11 km with over 300 m of elevation gain. Poles are provided. Bring snowshoes or contact me about renting them for you ($15 extra).  For ages 12 & over.

HOGARTH LAKE: This is a 2 hour winter hiking/snowshoeing trail, 4km long, on flat terrain through forest. It skirts small lakes which allow for scenic views of the surrounding mountains. It is a perfect place to go Nordic walking when equipped with poles & snowshoes. Bring snowshoes or contact me about renting them for you ($15 extra).  For ages 12 & over.

HIGH ROCKIES TRAIL FROM GOAT CREEK TRAILHEAD: The High Rockies trail is a beautiful area to go Nordic walking for 2 hours!  Soaring mountain views and a beautiful creek are the highlights. The new High Rockies Trail begins 880 metres along the Goat Creek Trailhead (18 km from Canmore) and runs over 80 km to Elk Pass just over the British Columbia border. We will be exploring the first 3 - 4 kilometres of this extensive wilderness trail.  Nordic walking poles and icers (snow cleats) are included in the price of this adventure. Possibly snowshoes would be recommended depending on the amount of snow. Bring snowshoes or contact me about renting them for you ($15 extra).

Guests must provide their own transportation to the trailhead for these hikes.

For almost everyone, the benefits of physical activity far outweigh any risks. For some individuals, special advice from a Qualified Exercise or health care provider is advisable before becoming more active. This questionnaire is intended for all ages – to help move you along the path to becoming more physically active. Please review this questionnaire if you have concerns about your health or fitness level for participating in Nordic walking.

Cancellation Policy:

Full refunds are given if a cancellation is received 48 hours or more prior to the clinic or tour date.  No refunds are given with less than 48 hours notice. Clinics/tours go rain or shine.  If the weather is extreme, then it may be cancelled with a full refund given.
